Born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Jonathan Hodgman had the privilege of playing baseball year round in one of the most talent saturated areas in the country. Jonathan graduated from South Plantation High School in 2006 where he was a four year starter, earning three varsity letters and making two All-County teams. He then went on to play baseball at the University of South Florida before transferring to Volunteer State CC in 2009 after a year off from the game in 2008. Hodgman started at 3rd base for VSCC on their way to becoming conference champs and the TCCAA/Region VII runner-up.
After hanging up the cleats in 2011, Hodgman stayed in the game by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer and interning as the Strength Coach for VSCC during the 2012-13 season. He has also been the Performance Coach / 15-16U Head Baseball Coach at Crosshit Sports Academy since 2013.
Over the course of his baseball career, he has played with or against the likes of Zac Curtis, Richard Bleier, Eric Hosmer, Mat Latos, JD Martinez, Gio Gonzalez, and Yasmani Grandal, among others.
“If it’s important, do it every day.”
Jonathan is available for hitting lessons as as well as performance training i.e. strength, speed and agility training, core strength, etc… Jonathan has a passion for the performance training because “Had I realized earlier in my playing career that year round training wasn’t an option but an absolute necessity, I would have undoubtedly been able to play the game at a higher level for a longer time. My goal is to not let that happen to anyone else. I want to develop young players, physically and mentally, on the field or in the weight room, to reach their absolute potential.”
