John VanBenschoten, Hitting and Pitching Instructor

Pursuit Sports Academy - John VanBenchoten

After an 11-year professional baseball playing career, John decided to put his roots down in Gallatin in 2012. Since moving to the area he was the assistant coach for Pope John Paul II High School for two years and coached three summer seasons before taking this year off to focus on his education and graduating from Kent State University in May. John is excited about the opportunity to work with Pursuit and share his message with the athletic youth of Nashville.

“I would say that my approach to the game challenges conventional wisdom, the norms will be challenged. I focus on goals that are simple, doable, and attainable that matter. I like to use creative ways to get kids in more natural, athletic, and explosive positions. My physical and mental absolutes for both hitting and pitching are Posture, Push, and Release all within proper Sequence, Timing, and Technique. Bottom line is that kids can do this. The research, science, and work has been done and I plan to share all that I have learned. Let’s make baseball fun again!”
